On to the next, a year in review

2023, we call this a learning year. I have been crafting this entry in my notes section for months, taking into account the many lessons of 2023. If you had asked me weeks ago to talk about the last year, I think I would have more curse words to say. More “This has been hard” statements to proclaim but I am coming to you from my cozy bed with new sheets (link here) listening to T-Pains Live Cover album and feeling more than blessed and like “Hey this wasn’t so bad.” T-Pain said it best, “Did you have a bad day or a bad 5 minutes?”

This thinking aligns with a conversation I just had with Lauren, who is a Capricorn so smarter than most, and helped me remember that even the pits of life have peaked. Her positivity can be so annoying ha! But she is right- with every low, comes a moment of OK OK, we are going to be ok!

I introduce to you the things that made my 2023 Bingo card- many I didn’t see coming. Many were peaks and a few were pits with a hopeful ending!

My 2023 Year and Wrap looked a little something like…

  • London SOLO- meeting new people and trying new things for the entire month

  • Boo’d Up

  • Learning to practice the pause

  • Traveled international solo a few times

  • An incredible Portugal trip with an unexpected meet-up with my college besties (Tina and Cece!!)

  • Enjoyed country music

  • Fell in love with Miller High Life

  • Hit a few gym PRs at my new gym

  • Losing one of my dear friends Aaron, a loss I could have never prepared for

  • Attracted more abundance with a new side hustle

  • Attended a White House Christmas Party (my younger self was screaming!!)

  • A break-up with a side of WTF just happened

  • Navigating the year with a side of grief- learning it was ok to not be the fun friend and cry in bed when I needed to

  • A Very Chicago Thanksgiving- full of laughs, sides, crab legs, and high kicks in the kitchen

  • Brought back Toast to Giving, virtually, and raised $10K for Aaron’s scholarship!

  • Achieved big work success, finding my lane and enjoying it

  • Stopped doing workouts to just check a box and moved my body in ways I enjoyed

  • Chopped a few inches off my hair

  • Did a Turkey Trot thanks to the push from Cate

  • Had the most healing girls’ trip in Jamaica

  • Watched friends get engaged, married, and have babies- a beautiful to witness

  • Became a dog nanny to Queen!

  • Bought a few books, only read a few, and not apologizing for that

  • Continued to lean into self-care and silence

  • Had hard conversations and grew from them

  • Cried a lot, laughed more

My mantra for 2024 is “Bless it, Don’t Stress it.” I’ll catch you guys here in 365 days with another beautiful recap! To all the love and support I received this year, THANK YOU. I will never forget it.

Much love ALWAYS!

-Katy
