You Inspire me!

I find inspiration in people, places and things. So with that I will be highlighting more of these JOYS in the "Inspired By" section of my website. I will be interviewing people I love, showing products that light me up and fashion HAVE MUST moments!

I’m kicking this section off with a highlight on my friend Mecca Perry!

Mecca Perry is the Founder of Elevated Meditation Studio in Chicago (If you are local in the Chi: South Loop, Chicago). Within the space, Mecca leads her guests through Sound Meditations, providing peace of mind to all! I am inspired by Mecca and her story. I had the privilege of going to her space a few weeks back and I was transformed! Mecca has this incredible ability to bring calm to the space. I left feeling renewed and inspired. I sat down with her a few weeks back to understand more on her WHY and on her journey to success. I will say I continue to be WOW’d by her!

Title: Founder of Elevated Meditation Studio

KH: Where are you from and where do you live now?

MP: I’m from a mixed bag of locations, I was raised in Little Rock and Bay Area and have spent most of my adulthood in Chicago, where I currently live.

KH:Describe what you do and what you have done to get to this point today?

MP: I have created a sacred space for individuals to come and calm their mind and find peace. Throughout my career I worked in a variety of industries including: events, hospitality, culinary, etc. All of these being focused on the human experience. I was able to gain an understanding and really focus on my craft. I trained with sound healers in both DC and Chicago and have done a lot of self taught work. I play intuitively and tap into the energy of others in the space.  I have arrived where I am by getting clear on what I want out of my life, while also getting clear on how I want to show up for myself and my community. Consistency in my craft and surrendering to the unknown.

KH: Where were you when your business idea came to you?

MP: I was in DC in October 2019, laying in bed. I was living in DC during the time and working at a Bed & Breakfast, learning to understand the industry. I realized then that I didn't want to work in that space but did want to create a space for individuals that could leave better than they came. I wanted a space for people to recharge and reset.

KH: Was this always a MUST do idea for you?

MP: I felt being called to be a guide and a teacher for those looking for self discovery. But the how came over time. I just knew I wanted to be a resource, teacher and guide. But currently what is happening now at is the vehicle.

KH: What has been surprising about this path of growing this dream for you?

MP: You anticipate this process being an uphill battle, but it wasn't!  It was easy;  I would say the ease of it has been the most surprising. The ease of it all.  When you are in alignment with one of your life assignments and it's  w coming out of you in the purest form, THIS brings the ease of it. The second most surprising part has been my own advancement and my own expansion through the sound meditations daily.so see my personal advancement in this, there is a growth in myself and skills.

KH: Looking back, is there any advice you would give to your younger self about your career?

MP: Don’t be anxious for anything. Everything will happen in the way it should. I know that is easier said than done but lean into it. It may not feel like it now, but just go with it. Go with what feels good, people, places and things.

KH: What are you manifesting next?

MP: The next juicy part of my life!

KH: Last thing- anything else you want to share?

MP:

1) Everybody has a version of their “work.” Don’t compare yourself to anyone. Your own internal work is your work..

2) Don’t compare along the way or allow someone to tell you what is right or wrong with your own journey.

3) Knowing who you are, allows you to know  what’s best for your journey.

4)  Trying to please others  will not make you happy.

 5)  Unsolicited advice will be offered.. This advice may not be in the best interest of your journey. Don’t allow someone else's fear to dictate who you are.
